TDC Fly Touch Version
Fly is TDC’s highly successful mobile portal which allows customers to browse free of charge and download music from TDC Play at no cost at all. During October alone, the portal attracted over 800,000 visits and now a new version especially for touch telephones is on the way.
Lars Knutsen is Head of TDC Mobile Internet Services and responsible for the conceptual and commercial aspects of the new touch version of Fly. We asked him about the reason why TDC is launching a touch version of its popular portal, when the existing mobile portal attracts the highest number of visitors in the country. And will there be a difference in content between the two versions?
The difference is in your fingers
“The much larger screens on touch telephones and navigation using your fingers direct on the screen instead of on the keypad, mean we need to optimise our portal to ensure maximum user experience. The new touch version will give TDC’s websites and mobile internet services a totally different look for users. We find that customers with mobiles such as Nokia 5800 and HTC Hero use the net when on the move and the new touch portal will ensure that they always have music from TDC Play, mobile TV and news to hand,” says Knutsen.
Faster and better overview
“We have developed a solution in collaboration with Unwire which gives better visualisation of content, and I think our users will perceive a definite difference. It also provides a faster overview of the latest numbers from TDC Play and TV guide with direct access to TDC Mobile TV and to searching on Google, TDC Play and Rejseplanen,” adds Knutsen.
When will the new version go on air?
“The new version will be on air from 16 December, when all users accessing our portal at m.tdc.dk using a touch telephone will automatically benefit from touch optimisation.”
What will TDC’s next step be in terms of mobile portals?
“We will be working intensively to develop ways in which TDC customers can keep better track of their accounts with TDC, and establish market leadership with TDC Play and other multimedia services.”
How do you perceive the partnership with Unwire?
“Unwire have developed the technical solution based on concepts, outlines and ideas from TDC. During development of the touch portal, we found Unwire was very professional and thorough, supplying effective, well planned solutions,” concludes Knutsen.
