DR chooses Unwire as their partner in mobile services and platforms

Subsequent to an EU tender process, DR has chosen to continue with Unwire as partner in mobile services and platforms for the coming four years. The cooperation between DR and Unwire is expected to set completely new standards for how to use and communicate with the mobile phone in the time to come.

Based on the continued cooperation with the Danish IT-company Unwire, DR plans to launch a large number of exciting initiatives and projects in the years to come. DR wants to be at the fore front when it comes to reaching – not only the young audience – but also the ordinary Danish population on the mobile phone.

During several years, DR has experimented with a large number of new mobile concepts and DR has now reached the point where the experiments are replaced with well tested solutions which address the common Danish population. It is therefore expected that the continued cooperation between DR and Unwire will set new standards for how to use and communicate with the mobile phone in the time to come. Both partners look forward to the close cooperation and estimate that despite the great popularity which mobile services have obtained during the last 6-7 years, mobile services will experience a break through within the coming years and the mobile phone will become a media channel which is as important as television and the internet.

DR and Unwire already know each other for more than five years of close cooperation. Unwire has among other things delivered the voting systems for DRs great TV shows, like e.g. Eurovision Song Contest as well as the mobile platforms behind DRs mobile portal (mobil.dr.dk) and DRs mobile television solution. In December alone, the title song from the Christmas show ”Yalllahrup Færgeby” was downloaded more than 100,000 times from the Unwire systems which makes it one of the most popular ring tones ever in Denmark.
