The DOT Mobile Ticketing solution is Denmark’s biggest mobile solution for Mass transit.

Unwire has since 2008 delivered mobile ticketing solutions for DOT (Din offentlige transport), a corporation between 3 transit agencies in the Greater Copenhagen Area and Sealand (Trains, Subway and busses). The ticketing solution started out as a pilot giving the riders in The Greater Copenhagen Area the opportunity to purchase tickets through SMS.

The pilot was a huge success with more than 1 million tickets sold within the 1st year and lead to a permanent solution which in first phase was increased to more sales channels (web and mobile web) and extension of the service area to the whole Sealand. During our now 10-year long relationship with DOT the mobile ticketing system has continuously been enhanced with new features, sales channels, integrations and upgrades and is today handling more than 15 million mobile tickets yearly (2018).

In 2012 a smartphone application for both Android and iOS was introduced with new features and usability making it even easier and more convenient for the riders to purchase tickets or plan their next ride. Today the mobile ticketing solution is highly featured with 3rd party integrations to websites selling tickets for Park&Ride, special events, tourists or companies paying on behalf of employees.

All tickets are equipped with a special textual code for fraud protection that works on both smartphone and feature phones. All tickets and validation information are transferred in real time back to the transit agencies for use for the fare enforcement officers and all sales/refunds and payment statistics are reported daily for reconciliation/settlement.
